2012 Redland City Council election
Redlands is a fantastic place and has so much to offer. We have beautiful Moreton Bay right on our doorstep, we have stunning reserves and wildlife, we have a myriad of local businesses, we have excellent schools, and we have friendly residents.
While Redlands has so many positive aspects, it is not perfect and there is still room for improvement.
The 2012 Redland City Council election is just around the corner and I have put my hand up as a candidate for Division 8.
I believe in the four C’s: care, compassion, communication and commonsense. Without the integration of all four elements, the functionality of a community will fail and happiness will fade.
I am an independent candidate and my campaign is 100% self funded. I am not influenced by extremist groups and I am determined to listen to Redlanders and make their voice heard.
I invite residents to send me an email or submit a comment because communication is the key to making a positive difference.
Kindest regards,
Dianne Hausler.

Lets stop the illegal dumping of waste by either abolishing the tip fees (we pay in our rates) or reintroduce the yearly pick-up service.
The introduction of tip fees saw a marked increase in illegal dumping.
Within Division 8, broken glass bottles, car batteries, unwanted furniture, garden waste, clothing, bicycles, tyres, etc., was found in local wetlands, waterways, parks and near the children’s playground.
Illegal dumping is a serious problem: it pollutes waterways, threatens local wildlife, and most importantly, the safety of residents is jeopardised.
If elected, I will strive to introduce free kerbside collections service to the Redlands.
What is your view about high density urban planning proposed by property developers who support your major opponents? Also what do you see as the plan for the bay islands?
Hi Mike,
My initial reaction to any proposed planning: Is this what the majority residents want? What effect will this have on our existing residents, and will this have a negative impact on our environment and heritage? IMO, high density urban development that does not comply with all factors that surround the triple bottom line will not lead to a happy or sustainable society.
If elected, I have no intention of merely rubber stamping proposed plans, but intend to analyse each and every situation.
The Bay Islands: My parents owned a house on one of the Bay Islands back in the 1970′s and I have many fond memories of time spent there – so the people and the Islands are kind of special to me… I see many issues that need addressing, but these issues cannot be addressed without the input of residents. Creating a change for the better must be a team effort and the lines of communication must remain open.
Warmest regards,
Dianne.
All the best
Mike
