Our marine environment in Moreton Bay is precious. The waterways and coastal areas are crucial to the health of the Bay. Get behind Clean Up Australia Day with Marine Care at Wellington Point Reserve.

Mark Robinson is correct. To maintain healthy waterways and protect our marine life, it is important that we keep local foreshores and waterways clean and free from pollution.
“Research done at the Moreton Bay Research Station has shown that the consumption of marine rubbish can kill turtles from as young as one month to 70-year-old mature adults. Hard pieces of plastic or fishing line can perforate the gut causing septicaemia, while plastic bags and balloons can cause impactions which lead to ‘floating syndrome’, which prevents the turtles from diving and feeding” (148, Wild Guide to Moreton Bay).
Wellington Point Reserve is also a popular site for locals and visitors to the Redlands. We want to create a beautiful and safe environment for all to enjoy.
